EWRA hosts events year-round, and we’re always looking for enthusiastic volunteers!
You can assist with preparing materials, leading activities, or working with young children (with supervision). We need volunteers for events like Mini Soccer, Family Fun Day in the Park, the Children's Christmas Party, and the annual Spring Park Cleanup at Emerald Woods and Baden parks.
Stay updated by checking our website or neighbourhood newsletters for opportunities.
High school students can also earn volunteer hours—our organizers are happy to sign the necessary forms!
The President is the leader of the EWRA and plays a key role in shaping the direction of our community. They chair meetings, set agendas, and guide discussions to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and respected. The President represents Emerald Woods to the City and other organizations, ensuring our neighbourhood’s needs and concerns are front and centre. Beyond leadership, the President helps bring ideas to life, supports fellow Executive members, and makes sure events and initiatives run smoothly. This is a rewarding role for anyone passionate about strengthening connections and building a vibrant, welcoming community.
The Vice-President is the President’s right-hand and an essential part of the leadership team. They step in whenever the President is away, keeping things running seamlessly. In addition, the Vice-President takes on special projects and initiatives assigned by the President, the Executive Committee, or the general membership. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys collaboration, problem-solving, and jumping in where needed. It’s a dynamic position where you’ll have the chance to influence decisions, support events, and make a real impact on day-to-day operations and long-term goals of the EWRA.
The Past President helps provide stability and continuity for the EWRA. Having already served as President, they bring valuable experience, insight, and guidance to the team. They step in to lead if both the President and Vice-President are unavailable and continue to support community projects as needed. The Past President’s perspective helps ensure smoother transitions, stronger decision-making, and lasting success for the association. It’s a role that keeps the momentum going while passing along lessons learned.
The Secretary is the organizational backbone of the EWRA. They prepare and share meeting notices and agendas, record accurate minutes, and manage correspondence so that everyone stays informed and connected. They also maintain official records and track who is interested in volunteering on the Executive Committee. The Secretary plays a crucial part in communication — making sure residents know what’s happening, decisions are clearly documented, and activities are well-coordinated. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, communication, and keeping the team in sync.
The Treasurer looks after the financial health of the EWRA. They manage membership dues and community funds, pay approved expenses, and prepare financial reports for both the Executive Committee and the Annual General Meeting. The Treasurer also ensures that budgets are clear and transparent so members know how funds are being used to support community events and initiatives. It’s a detail-oriented but very rewarding role — every event, festival, and project relies on the Treasurer’s careful stewardship to succeed.
Members at Large bring fresh energy and creativity to the EWRA. Between four and eight people serve in these roles, making them the heart of brainstorming, planning, and carrying out community projects. Members at Large take the lead on exciting responsibilities such as:
Publishing and delivering the EWRA Newsletter
Maintaining and updating the EWRA website
Organizing community social events (like the Fun Day in the Park and Children’s Christmas Party)
Coordinating recreational activities (like Children's Soccer)
Beyond specific projects, Members at Large actively support the Officers, share ideas, and help make decisions that shape the neighbourhood’s future. It’s a flexible and engaging role for anyone who wants to get involved, meet new people, and strengthen community spirit.
