Established in 1985 while the Emerald Woods community was still under construction, the Emerald Woods Residents' Association (EWRA) initially served as a collective voice for residents to address concerns with the builder, Tartan Homes. Today, the EWRA represents the area extending south from Bridle Path Drive to the NCC farm. For more details on the association's coverage, visit About > Our Area.
Once these early concerns were resolved, EWRA evolved into a social and recreational association, organizing community activities that have continued for over 35 years—thanks to dedicated volunteers.
Our strong community spirit, ongoing activities, and long-standing resident engagement set our neighbourhood apart. Membership is just $20 per household per year.
In recent years, EWRA has taken an active role in local advocacy, working with the City of Ottawa on development, transit, security, and traffic issues. We are recognized as a key voice in South Ottawa, engaging with Councillor Jessica Bradley and city officials when needed.
EWRA is built on community participation—stay involved and help make Emerald Woods a great place to live!
The Emerald Woods Residents’ Association (EWRA) is all about building a stronger, more connected community. Our goals and objectives guide everything we do:
Bring neighbours together – We organize social and recreational events that create fun opportunities to meet, connect, and celebrate as a community.
Create memorable experiences – From holiday gatherings to neighbourhood activities, we plan events that bring joy and strengthen the bonds between neighbours.
Be a voice for residents – We represent the interests of Emerald Woods when working with the City and other organizations, making sure local concerns are heard.
Keep everyone informed – Through newsletters, our website, and community updates, we share news, events, and important information that matter to residents.
Support a connected neighbourhood – We encourage volunteer involvement so everyone feels part of the community.
Together, these goals help us create a neighbourhood that is vibrant, welcoming, and united.
Our constitution outlines the purpose, structure, and governance of the organization, including membership rules, leadership roles, decision-making processes, and operational guidelines. It ensures transparency, accountability, and stability while providing a framework for fair and effective management. By establishing clear procedures for governance and participation, our constitution helps maintain consistency and supports the organization's long-term success.
