I'm Mark Vuotari and your EWRA President. My wife and I have been living in the neighbourhood since the fall of 2017, and this summer our family expanded with the addition of a baby girl. In my spare time I enjoy woodworking, outdoor activities, and scuba diving. Most weekends you will find me out in the yard, working on projects around the house, or spending time with family. I always look forward to meeting new people, and I hope to see you at our neighbourhood events!
This could be you!
I'm Christine Guptill, and this is my second term as Secretary of our Emerald Woods Residents' Association. We moved into the neighbourhood in 2021 from Edmonton, Alberta, but I grew up in Hunt Club here in Ottawa, and my mother and brother still live in the city. I enjoy being involved, and I joined the EWRA to get to know the people and the community. My husband and two teen daughters are enjoying getting to know you, and we plan to stay a long time! Outside of my role in the association, I have a degree in oboe performance, play a bit of guitar, and I sing. I also love cross-country skiing, and Pine Grove has become my winter "forest bathing" ritual.
I'm André Gignac, the Association's recently-elected treasurer. Our family has lived on Autumnwood Street since 1981, when the Gates of Albion was first being developed. Our kids grew up here and played with their friends on these streets and in those woods. Over the years, I've been involved as a volunteer in several community organisations of the area - often as the treasurer. My wife and I have developed strong bonds to this neighbourhood because of the warmth of the people with whom we share the area and the strong sense of community togetherness when events occurred that called for mutual support. That is why I chose to serve the Association as a volunteer treasurer.
The EWRA is looking for four to eight Members at Large to join the team! This group plays a key role in brainstorming exciting initiatives, planning engaging events, and keeping things running smoothly. Members help drive decisions, organize activities, and ensure the community stays vibrant and connected. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved, make a difference, and have fun along the way!
